Lady Annabel de Swinburne will step down as Seneschal of Rowany at Yule 12/12 – can you take the office up?
From Lady Annabel de Swinburne:
It is with regret that I must announce I will be stepping down at Yule. Due to my increasing commitments at work and in legal studies I can no longer spare the time to fulfil my duties as Seneschal. Therefore I must call for applicants to take on the office. Applications will close 7pm, 11/12/09, the evening before Yule.
Applications should be sent to me at firstname.lastname@example.org and to their Excellencies Gui and AElfled, email@example.com and to the Lochac Seneschal, Batholomew Baskin, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Lochac Procedures manual summarises the duties of a local seneschal thus:
“You are there as an interface between the mundane real world’s legal system as it affects your local area, and the game that is the SCA as it is played there. Local seneschals generally receive reports from their officers, and from these reports and your own activities within your office, you compile a report for the Kingdom seneschal on a quarterly basis.”
You will be the person people in the Barony, the Colleges and the Cantons turn to when they need to know what to do. You won’t know the answers right away, but you can consult with those around you such as the Baron and Baroness and the Lochac Seneschal, read the laws and the procedures manual, use logic and common sense, and you will work it out. Helpful qualities are perseverance and chivalry.
If you have any questions about the position I would be very happy to answer them. Please be assured I will still be around to train the next Rowany Seneschal. The duties are not onerous but require a few hours a week which I can no longer spare.
Yours in service,
Annabel de Swinburne, Rowany Seneschal.
