What is Dence Park A&S?
Dence Park A&S is Rowany’s monthly Arts and Sciences gathering.
Location: 26 Stanley Rd, Epping NSW 2121. We have the main hall. It’s a bit of a hike from Epping train station but if you get in touch, we may be able to arrange a lift from the station. There is adequate on-site parking.
Space: The hall is well lit and has lots of long tables and chairs that we can arrange as we like. There is a kitchen with a sink, urn and fridge space. The hall is wheelchair accessible. Outside, there are large grassed areas, quite a bit of tree shade, and sheltered verandah area where we have printed tabards and carved wooden spoons.
When: Dence Park A&S runs once a month on a Sunday.

Time: The hall is open from 10 am to 4 pm.
What happens? Generally, people turn up with their current projects or research and chat. There is usually a class, workshop, or theme (e.g. Hats; Festival Prep; Newcomers). If you need help getting started with garb or want to geek out in good company about your latest pre-C17th passion, Dence Park A&S is a great opportunity for that.
Cost: You must be an SCA member to attend, or pay a $5 SCA event membership and fill in the form. In addition, the attendance fee is $5 for a one-off, or it is covered by Rowany’s quarterly regular event payments (along with e.g. Monday fighter practice, monthly war practice). Speak to the Constable about quarterly regular event payments. Speak to the Seneschal about hardship rates. Sometimes there is an additional cost for materials for a particular workshop.
Food: Rowany supplies tea and coffee. We usually hold a pot luck lunch, if you want to join in, please bring some food to share – anything from a simple loaf of bread to a complex renaissance dish you are trying out, or you can just bring your own lunch. Closest food shops are back near the train station.
Do I have to wear garb? No, this is not a garbed event.
Can I help? Yes! Like just about everything in the SCA, Dence Park A&S is run by volunteers. In particular, we need people to open and close the hall. Once a year is plenty, and there are clear instructions. We are also interested in ideas and offers for classes. Contact the A&S Officer for more details.
